Flea Treats is proud to announce our partnership with the Garden Grove Police Department in Garden Grove, California! We recently donated 3 cases (36 of our 500-tablet bottles) to the Garden Grove PD’s canines, through the John Reynolds Youth Support Canine Foundation (which honors the legacy of Garden Grove Police Lieutenant John Reynolds). Being born and raised in Garden Grove, this is a cause that is close to home for us, and we’re honored to offer our ongoing support!
The GGPD’s innovative program brings trained police support dogs to schools across GGUSD to provide an extra layer of social-emotional support for students. The handlers have gone through specialized training to be able to provide social-emotional support for students dealing with anxiety, de-escalation support for students experiencing heighted emotions or behavior, and other instances of trauma or tragedy when students need additional social-emotional support. The dogs have received training in obedience in a chaotic environment, providing support amidst stressful distractions, remaining calm and supportive for strangers, and remaining relaxed and free from barking or aggression in a variety of environments.
K9 Misha is a White Retriever who was born in Russia and raised in Ukraine. She obtained her Canine Good Citizen certification and went through an additional 30 hours of training with nationally certified K9 instructor.
K9 Nellie is an English Black Lab. She was initially training at Guide Dogs of the Desert to be a guide dog but due to her loving temperament, she was selected for the profession of support dog. Nellie flew to Kansas City to receive Critical Incident Response Team training and performed well in a variety of high-stress environments.
K9 Heart is an English White Lab. She enjoys going for walks and playing fetch. She, like all of her fellow K9 Officers, interacts with people on a daily basis, helping anyone that is in need of support or social emotional well-being.
Flea Treats is happy to know these awesome K9 Officers, and proud to be able to support such a valuable program!
